Slidell Tx student murdered 1985-1986

I was in school at Slidell, Tx when one of the upper classman a 17 to 18 year old female was murderered around 1985-1986. She used to help out with our PE classes. I can not remember her name. I want the true story instead of what I was told or remember at the time. She was supposedly killed by a serial killer. Her car had broken down and was attacked walking to get help. I just remember being told she was dragged by a hook or wire hanger. I was young at the time but the more I listen to true crime podcast the more i wonder about her and what was lore and truth in the case. Does anyone remember the case?

I tracked down a former classmate that remembered her name Teresa Laune Branch. The articles I’ve found just discuss her being shot in the abdomen. If anyone knows anything else, let know?
