Okay so I've been thinking of this whole Rachel said "yes" thing and where Richard got it from. Do you think maybe while he was going in and out of consciousness or something he might've heard that whole 'She said "Yes."' thing about Cassie and due to him just coming out of surgery and under anesthesia his subconscious mistook it as a memory of Rachel and her final moments?

That's a very good theory that could very well be true. A lot of the witness statements associated with Columbine are problematic because many witnesses weren't questioned right away and were exposed to the media stories about the massacre before law enforcement got a chance to speak with them. The heavy media exposure influenced a fair few of the statements I've read over the years, such as those in which people could only positively identify Eric and/or Dylan because they had seen their pictures on the news rather than because they were familiar with them in any other way.

It's very possible that Richard was influenced by the "she said yes"-story somehow. The first (and only!) statement he gave to law enforcement was given on May 4, 1999. In this statement, he made no mention of there having been any kind of verbal exchange between Rachel and the shooters. I trust this earliest statement more than I trust the other stuff he came out with over the years, and it is rather telling that he never mentions anything that could lead to the "she said yes"-story within this particular statement. It seems to me like the birth of that particular story happened much later when he was already well on the road to recovery, perhaps influenced by the media or perhaps influenced by something else such as Rachel's own religious family. Whatever the origin of it, it's probably far better to trust the first things he said about the shooting.
